It is incredibly easy to follow and the health benefits knocked our socks off! According to the Mayo Clinic[i], the “Mediterranean diet (is) associated with a reduced risk of death from heart disease and cancer, as well as a reduced incidence of Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases.” And a recent article from NPR[ii] revealed “that eating a Mediterranean diet supplemented with four tablespoons per day of extra-virgin olive oil reduces the risk of breast cancer.” So really you just can’t go wrong. The focus of the Mediterranean diet isn't on limiting total fat consumption, but rather on choosing healthier types of fat, such as olive oil.
